Coach Dustin’s experience as a multisport athlete in high school helped him to understand the need for support, guidance and leadership from coaches. His focus is on 3-dimensional, mental health and character building.
The coaches' primary goal is to develop a team that can compete together for three full periods, every game. Focusing on both the technical side of hockey (systems, positioning, and execution) and the development of character. The Coaches believe that lessons in accountability, work ethic, and teamwork are just as important as on-ice skills.
Their philosophy is rooted in the idea that hockey is a blue-collar sport. Attention to detail and consistent effort are what allow teams to succeed. Players will often hear them say, “the details matter,” and they reinforce that daily—whether it’s positioning, puck support, line changes, or effort away from the puck. These habits are what elevate both individual performance and overall team success.
This approach has allowed teams to remain competitive late into games, often giving opportunities to win in the third period. They take pride in being a difficult team to play against, regardless of an opponent’s size, record, or skill level.
It’s important to note that this level of competitiveness requires full team buy-in. Success is not built around individuals, but through a collective commitment to team systems, roles, and shared goals. That process takes time, and they ask for patience as players continue to develop and grow within it.
As a staff, they are constantly evaluating and adjusting. Each week, they identify areas for improvement and build their practices accordingly. They use a variety of tools—including drills, small-area games, video review, team discussions, and team-building activities—to help players improve step by step.
As always, they appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to work together to provide a positive and competitive experience for all players!
